FAO/WHO publishes definitions and requirements for healthy diets

On October 24, 2024, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) released the Definition and Requirements for a Healthy Diet.
The Definition recognizes that healthy diets should comply with four core principles, namely, Adequate: providing sufficient essential nutrients to prevent under-nutrition and promote health, and not over-nutrition.
Nutrition is also not excessive; Balance: energy intake and energy sources (i.e. fats, carbohydrates and proteins) should be balanced to promote health and growth,
Moderation: food, nutrition, and other mixtures should be consumed in moderation to prevent harmful effects on health; Diversity: nutritious food should be diversified, and food types should be diversified.
Diversity: Nutritious food should be diversified and the types of food should be varied to ensure
adequate nutrition and the consumption of other substances that are beneficial to health.
